What Are the Commandments of Jesus?

“If ye love me, keep my commandments…”

WHAT ARE THE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS?

Love me keep my commandment

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14

The Commandments of Jesus must not be confused with the “Ten Commandments” in the Old Testament or the 613 individual commandments in the Old Testament Law.

Jesus said, If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.  John 15:10

Various New Testament scriptures state that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament Law (commandments), bringing it to completion and conclusion (For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. Romans 10:4; But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.  Galatians 3:23–25;  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; Ephesians 2:15

Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments,” (John 14:15, KJV).

So what are the Commandments of Jesus?

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  Mark 12:30

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.  Mark 12:31

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  John 13:34

If ye love me, keep my commandments.  John 14:15

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.  John 14:21

But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.  John 14:31

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.  John 15:10

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.  John 15:12

These things I command you, that ye love one another.  John 15:17

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  Romans 13:9

I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.  2 Corinthians 8:8

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.  1 John 3:23

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.  1 John 4:21

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.  2 John 1:5

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.  2 John 1:6

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.  Romans 13:8

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.  Romans 13:10

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  Galatians 5:14

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:  James 2:8

Other commands of Jesus are not in numerical order as are the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament, most Bible Scholars agree that they are most assuredly the Commandments of Jesus.  (Please note, this is a partial list but gives you an idea).

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.  But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.  Mark 11:25-26 KJV

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.  And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.  Matt 5:29-30 KJV

Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one,” (Matt 5:34-37 KJV).

  1. Turn the other cheek

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.  Matt 5:38-39 KJV

  1. This, then, is how you should pray

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. 1. Do not Worry about Your Needs

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. 1. “Do not criticize those who cast out devils in the name of Jesus”
