Is it a day people worship? Is it a social security number? Is it a microchip?
We must keep in mind that prophecy is not for our own interpretation.
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost….” 2 Peter 120-2.
In these verses, the MARK is referred by:
Rev 13:16 “a mark”
Rev 13:17 ” the mark”
Rev 14:9 “his mark”
Rev 14:11 “mark of his name”
Rev 15:2 “his mark”
Rev 16:2 “the mark of the beast”
Rev 19:20 “the mark of the beast”
Rev 20:4 “his mark”
Notice how the mark is personally associated or representative of the beast or antichrist:
Rev 14:9 “his mark”
Rev 14:11 “mark of his name”
Rev 15:2 “his mark”
Rev 16:2 “the mark of the beast”
Rev 19:20 “the mark of the beast”
Rev 20:4 “his mark”
Three times (14:9, 15:2, 20:4) it’s called “HIS mark”.
Two times (16:2, 19:20) it’s called “the mark OF THE BEAST”
One time (14:11) it’s called “the mark of HIS Name”
Mark definition. STAMP or ETCHING.
Greek word for Mark as in Mark of the Beast -charagma: a stamp, impress; xáragma – properly, an engraving (etching); (figuratively) a mark providing undeniable identification, like a symbol giving irrefutable connection between parties. xáragma (“brand-mark”) was originally any impress on a coin or a seal, used by an engraver on a die (stamp, branding iron). 5480 (xáragma) later became “the identification-marker. Ancient documents were validated by such stamps or seals (see Plutarch, Agesilaus, 15:6; De Lysandro 16:2, ala DNTT, 2, 574).]
Notice, people will not be able to buy or sale without this mark,
(The false prophet) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 13:12-17.
If a person cannot buy or sell without this mark it will be very difficult for them to survive.
The following verse tells us exactly what the mark is,
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:11.
The “Mark of the beast” is his name or number 666 stamped or etched on the right hand or forehead.
The “Mark of the beast” is implemented by the second beast (False Prophet) during the 7 year Tribulation and after the first beast has been revealed.
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Revelation 13:11-12.
The “Mark of the beast” is PHYSICAL because you cannot buy or sell without it.
The “Mark of the beast” has to do with worship.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? Rev. 13:4.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4.
Why does the Beast have his name or number on a person’s right hand or forehead?
Because the Beast will impersonate God who seal’s his servants with his name in their foreheads.
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. Revelation 22:3-4.
And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. Revelation 14:1.
